In March 2024, Target Hire began supplying a 500kVA stage 5 generator with a 3000-litre external fuel tank and a 500-litre Ad-Blue tank for a CTL650/F-45 construction tower crane at a modular pod housing construction site. An additional 40kVA stage 5 generator was provided to power the crane’s aviation warning light during off-peak hours, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Challenge:
This project posed several challenges:
Site Terrain: The construction site’s uneven and unforgiving ground complicated generator placement.
City-Central Location: Security considerations were paramount to prevent theft or tampering.
Load Spikes: The 500kVA generator, powering a large-scale motor (the crane), experienced load spikes. To address this, we supplied a 100kW load bank to stabilize the power flow.
Target Hire’s Approach:
After receiving the data sheet from the crane supplier specifying that a 500kVA generator was the minimum requirement, we ensured that the unit was stage 5 emission compliant to meet environmental standards. For the aviation warning light on top of the crane, we recommended and supplied a separate 40kVA generator to handle off-peak operations effectively.
The generators were positioned strategically for ease of refueling and maintenance while ensuring security in the urban environment.
